Rats and mice

Rat and mouse control in Hampshire

Scratching in the loft, droppings in the kitchen, gnawed cables. We find how rats and mice get in, proof the gaps and treat them so they stay out.

Rats and mice get in through gaps, drains and vents, then nest in lofts, walls and under floors. They gnaw cables, spoil food and leave droppings. We find the entry points, proof the gaps, and treat the infestation so they cannot get back in. It starts with a free site visit. We also deal with grey squirrels in lofts.

What we do

  1. Step 1

    Survey

We find droppings, runs, nests, and the gaps, drains or vents rats and mice use to get in.

  2. Step 2

    Plan and price

You get a written plan and price covering proofing, treatment and the number of visits.

  3. Step 3

    Treatment or installation

We proof the entry points and set treatment in secured placements, away from children and pets.

  4. Step 4

    Check

We return to check activity, clear spent treatment, and adjust the plan if signs continue.

  5. Step 5

    Prevention

We advise on food, waste and clutter, and seal any new gaps so rats and mice stay out.

Law and safety

Done properly, within the law

Rodenticides are not the first answer. We lead with trapping, proofing and housekeeping, and any bait goes in locked, tamper-resistant boxes. Placements are recorded, and we tell you where they are.

Questions

Questions people ask

Is rat treatment safe for children and pets?

We place any treatment in secured boxes or out of reach, away from children, pets and wildlife, and record where each one is. We tell you what has been used and what to watch for. Proofing the gaps comes first, so less treatment is needed.

How do rats get into a house?

Most often through damaged drains, gaps around pipes and cables, broken airbricks, and holes under doors or decking. A rat can squeeze through a gap about the width of a thumb, and a mouse through much less. Finding and sealing these gaps is what stops them coming back.

How many visits will it take?

It depends on how established the rats or mice are and how many ways in there are. A typical treatment needs a first visit and at least one follow-up to check activity and clear treatment. We set out the number of visits in the written plan.
