Bird proofing
Bird spikes and netting in Hampshire
Spikes for ledges, netting for voids and courtyards, wire for parapets, mesh for solar panels. We choose what suits the building and fit it ourselves.
Bird spikes and netting stop pigeons and gulls landing, roosting and nesting on a building. Spikes suit ledges, signs and beams. Netting closes off courtyards, roof voids and loading bays. Wire and mesh cover parapets and solar panels. We pick what suits each spot and fit it ourselves, after a free site visit.

What we do
-
Step 1
Survey
We look at every ledge, beam and void the birds use, and how we can reach them safely.
-
Step 2
Plan and price
You get a written plan and price saying which product goes where, and why.
-
Step 3
Treatment or installation
We clear nests and fouling where the law allows, then fit spikes, netting, wire or mesh ourselves.
-
Step 4
Check
We check the fixings hold and the birds have not found a gap.
-
Step 5
Prevention
We advise on keeping netting intact and on any new ledges birds start to use.
Law and safety
Done properly, within the law
All wild birds, their nests and eggs are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Fitting spikes or netting needs no licence, but active nests must not be disturbed, so we fit outside the nesting season or after the young have left. We check netting so no bird is trapped behind it. We work licensed where the law requires it. Read bird control and the law.

Questions
Questions people ask
Spikes or netting: which do I need?
Spikes suit narrow places birds land on: ledges, sills, signs and beams. Netting suits larger spaces birds fly into: courtyards, roof voids, loading bays and light wells. Many buildings need both. We decide spot by spot on the survey and explain the choice in the written plan.
Do bird spikes hurt birds?
No. Bird spikes are blunt and are there to stop birds landing, not to injure them. A bird cannot get a footing, so it moves on. Fitted properly, with no gaps at the ends, they are a humane way to keep birds off a ledge.
How long does bird netting last?
It depends on the netting grade, how exposed it is, and whether it gets damaged. We tell you the grade we fit and what to expect in the written plan. Most damage comes from later building work, so we advise on access and inspect it on any return visit.
