The questions people ask before booking. If yours is not here, call 07514 048911 or send an enquiry.
How much does pest control cost?
It depends on the pest, the size of the property and how much proofing is needed. After the free visit you get a written price before any work starts, so there are no surprises. We do not publish set prices, because every site is different.
Will the neighbours know?
No. We come in a plain, unmarked van, and we can visit at quiet times, including evenings.
Which pests do you deal with?
Pigeons and gulls, rats and mice, grey squirrels and moles, and insects including ants, fleas, cockroaches, bed bugs and flies. Not sure? Send a photo on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight away.
Is the site visit free?
Yes. We visit, find how the pests are getting in, explain what we would do and give you a price. There is no charge and no obligation to go ahead. Commercial sites get the same free survey before we write a plan.
How quickly can you come out?
We book the first visit as soon as the diary allows, and put wasp nests and rodents indoors first where we can. Same-day, evening and weekend visits are often possible. Call or WhatsApp 07514 048911 for a date.
Is it safe for children and pets?
We plan every job to keep the risk low. We place any treatment where children and pets cannot reach it, put rodent treatment in secured boxes or out of reach, and tell you what was used and when it is safe to go back into a treated area. Proofing, spikes and netting use no chemicals.
Do you use poison?
Not on birds. Bird control is proofing, spikes, netting and hawk deterrence, with no poison. For rats and mice we lead with trapping, proofing and housekeeping. Any bait goes in locked boxes, out of reach of children and pets.
Is your pest control natural?
Where it can be. Bird control is: proofing, spikes, netting and our own Harris’s hawks and falcons, with no poison. For rats, mice and insects we start with the non-chemical steps, finding how they get in, proofing the gaps and taking away food and cover, and use approved treatments only where they are needed. Our guide to natural pest control at home says what works and what does not.
Do you work for homes and businesses?
Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords and letting agents, and for shops, offices, warehouses, factories, depots, waste sites, marinas and farms. Homes get a free visit and a clear price. Businesses can have one-off work or planned visits with written reports.
What areas do you cover?
All of Hampshire, from our base near Hythe on the Waterside. That includes Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester, the New Forest, Basingstoke, Andover, Eastleigh, Fareham and Gosport, plus Bournemouth, Christchurch, Salisbury, Chichester, Newbury and Reading just over the border. See the areas we cover for the towns around each one.
Are you insured?
Yes. We hold public liability insurance. Cover: £5 million. Commercial clients can have a copy of the certificate with the risk assessment and method statement (RAMS), which is supplied before the first visit.
What experience do you have?
Steven has worked with birds of prey for 15 years: flying and caring for them, hand-rearing birds from chicks and running bird of prey experience days, as well as bird control jobs with spikes, netting and scaring birds off. We are owner-run, so the person who surveys and quotes for your job is the person who does the work.
Can you remove birds or nests in the nesting season?
All wild birds, their nests and eggs are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Deterrence and proofing outside the nesting season need no licence. Some nest or egg work is allowed under Natural England general licences where their conditions are met. Herring gull nest or egg removal usually needs an individual licence. We work licensed where the law requires it.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on the pest. A wasp nest is usually one visit. Rats and mice normally need a few visits, spaced out so we can check progress and finish the job. Bird proofing is usually one fitting visit. Commercial sites often move onto planned visits to keep pests from building up.
What do you need from me before a visit?
Tell us what you have seen, where and for how long, and send photos by WhatsApp if you can. Keep food and pet bowls covered, and clear access to lofts, cupboards or roof areas. Businesses: tell us your site rules, induction and PPE so we can prepare the RAMS.
