Commercial: Rooftops and solar

Pest control for rooftops and solar panels

Pigeons nest under solar panels and gulls nest on flat roofs. We proof panels and roofs, fit spikes and netting, and time the work before the nesting season.

The problem

What goes wrong on these sites

Pigeons nest under solar panels because the gap is dry and sheltered. Nests and droppings block gutters and drains, soil the panels and can damage cabling. Gulls nest on flat roofs from spring and defend the area hard. Wasps build in roof voids and fascias. Once birds are nesting, the law limits what can be done until the young have left.

Our approach

What we would do

We survey the roof, the panels and safe access first. Proofing mesh keeps pigeons out from under the panels, and spikes or netting go on ledges and plant. Fouling is cleared and taken away as a registered waste carrier. Wasp nests are treated. Hawk patrols are used only where gulls work a large flat roof and the site suits them. Planned checks catch new gaps before spring.

On site

Roof work follows your permit to work and safe access arrangements, and we wear the PPE you require. A risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) is supplied before the first visit.

How a job runs

  1. Step 1

    Survey

We look at the problem on site, inside and out, and find where the pests get in.

You get A plain read of the problem. The site visit is free.

  2. Step 2

    Plan and price

The method and the visits, and for businesses a risk assessment and method statement (RAMS).

You get A written price before any work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Treatment or installation

Bait and proofing, nest treatment, spikes, netting or a flown hawk, whichever the site needs.

You get The work done by Steven himself.

  4. Step 4

    Check

We come back and check it has worked.

You get A short note of what we found.

  5. Step 5

    Prevention

The fix that stops it coming back: proofing, housekeeping and, for businesses, planned visits.

You get Advice in writing, and a visit plan if you want one.

Risk assessment and method statement

Paperwork before the first visit

Every commercial site gets a risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) before the first visit. It is written for your site, not copied from a template.

Timing
Visit times agreed around your operations
Law and welfare
